MOTHERLESS MOTHER'S DAY
FAQs
Q) I never knew my birth mother. I was raised by my grandmother, who recently passed away. May I still attend the Motherless Mother's Day Event?
A) I'm sorry for your loss. Yes, even if you were raised by a foster mother or your aunt or someone else, you are most welcome to join us.
Q) I have questions that aren't on this list. How can I reach you?
A) Click here to go to my handy CONTACT FORM.
Q) I was raised by two men. One of them definitely had more "mom" energy, and he died several years back. I still miss him. Is it alright if I join you?
A) Yes, you are most welcome to join us. Our lives, loves, and relationships are varied and complex. Our world is a better place for having more love and more inclusiveness!
Q) I see you've posted guidelines for creating my own event. Is there a fee for using your materials? Can I make changes?
A) I would be delighted if you would consider hosting your own Motherless Mother's Day Celebration (MMD): all the materials I have posted on this website are freely available for your use, and there is no fee.
I always appreciate being given proper attribution and being credited for my work. My name is Shae Uisna. If you write an article about YOUR Motherless Mother's Day Ceremony and all you do is copy my words and maybe change a word or two here and there, that is called "plagiarism" and it is stealing ("the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own"). It is bad for your soul. Please be respectful of my gift.
See the section, "Host Your Own MMD" for ideas, suggestions, and guidelines for making it your own event.
Q) My mother died but we weren't very close. When Mother's Day comes up, I feel very strongly the loss of never having had a good relationship with my mother. I probably don't belong at a Motherless Mother's Day Celebration, right?
A) False. This gathering is about HEALING from loss and GRIEVING together - I consider it a great loss if your relationship with your mother was a negative experience. Tom Robbins once wrote, "It's never too late to have a happy childhood," and while I wouldn't go quite that far, I do think we are stronger if we work things through together. Please join us!
Q) Are you a licensed therapist?
A) No. I am a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® and faculty at the Celebrant Foundation and Institute. That said, I do have available a list of resources and contacts of people and organizations I respect who are licensed and trained therapists and family healthcare professionals. Truly, it takes a village to keep us all healthy.
Q) Do you offer other services besides your "Motherless Mother's Day" Ceremony?
A) Yes, I do. I offer Weddings, Blessings, Healings, and Funerals. As a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® I create ceremonies for people based on their lives and beliefs. To find out more about me and the services I offer, please click here to go to my website, Sacred Rites dot Earth.
